5 stars to Flat-Out Matt by Jessica Park

Matt is a junior at MIT. He’s geeky, he’s witty, he’s brilliant.

And he’s also very, very stupid.

When beautiful, cool, insightful Julie moves in with Matt’s family, why (oh why!) does he pretend to be his absent brother Finn for her alleged benefit?

It seems harmless enough until her short-term stay becomes permanent. And until it snowballs into heart-squeezing insanity. And until he falls in love with Julie, and Julie falls in love with Finn.

But … Matt is the right one for her. If only he can make Julie see it. Without telling her the truth, without shattering them all. Particularly his fragile sister Celeste, who may need Julie the most.

You saw Matt through Julie’s eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt’s world in this FLAT-OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.

Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven Flat-Out Love chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie.

WOW. Can I say that I came home from school today… around 4? Saw that this was already on sale. Bought it. Started. Sadly had to shower/eat but I finished by 8. I COMPLETELY DEVOURED THIS BOOK.

I literally didn’t think it was possible to love Matt more then I did before. I was completely in love with who he was in Flat Out Love. All this did was completely allow me to fall in love all over again.

Seeing things from his eyes… I mean it changes everything! You get to see things from Matty’s eyes… you saw him feel things, be conflicted, change, break down, fall in love… It was beautiful! Seriously though. I loved him through Julie’s eyes. I loved him more from his own eyes! He was just as nerdy, gentle, compassionate, and wildly addicting!

But let’s get down to business. Yes, it warmed my heart to see Matty fall in love with Julie and it broke my heart to see him so conflicted from the inside point of view. It’s HIGHLY worth a read because of that… Let’s chat about those EXTRA chapters. Yes. You read that sentence right. There are things in this book that are added bonuses! I’ll give you the topics. Matty and Finn and Matty and Julie. BOTH BEAUTIFUL chapters.

I LOVED reading about Matty and Finn. It was so interesting to see them interact and see how “brotherly” they were. I had an “awwwww” moment. It made me think of family and think THAT’S what brothers are like. They are close, competitive, and completely love each other to no end. Those were so super sweet chapters to read.

Now. The Matty and Julie. I read them twice. SO BEAUTIFUL. It was the most beautiful moments between two people I have ever read in a story. HANDS DOWN. NOTHING has been as beautiful as this. I don’t even think my words can describe how I felt when I read these two scenes. I keep having to hit backspace because I don’t want to give away what happens. It’s just literally beautiful. The moments they are together. It’s just… they come together as one person. TRULY. They are whole. Completely in love. They lost themselves in such a beautiful moment. I want a moment like that! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Did I say beautiful enough? I don’t think I did. BEAUTIFUL. PERFECTION. I 100% mean that up until I read that chapter, I have never read such a moment between two people that is filled with passion, true love, fear, joy, intensity, just pure perfection.

If you loved Matt before, this is just going to make your love for him grow and grow until you literally explore. It will make you want to hit the library or the science lab to find your own Matty. Nerds are the new black everybody. Bow down to Matty. <3
