4 stars to Forever Too Far (Too Far #3) by Abbi Glines

Published June 27, 2013 by katheryn13

Rush promised her forever… but promises can be broken.

Torn between his love for his family and his love for Blaire, Rush has to find a way to save one without losing the other. In the end one has to be more important. Letting go isn’t easy.

Blaire believed in her fairytale… but no one can live in a fantasy.

Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way for this to work. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if it breaks her heart.

Can they find the forever that they both want or has it all just gone… too far?

Review

I’m torn between how many stars I want to give this book. I want to give it 5 because it’s got a great story line, I feel connected to the characters, I was sucked in completely and I devoured the whole thing rather quickly. I also want to give it 4 stars because compared to the first two, I was expected to be wowed more? I wanted more then I was given so I guess I finished the book a little disappointed. I still LOVE Rush and Blaire and I am SO happy there was this third book. Still LOVE Forever Too Far, just torn…

Okay, let’s start off by saying if you have read the first two, you will HAVE to read this one. Everything comes together here. I would say it’s a good way to end the series. I think it had the happy ending I was looking for. I got a lot of Rush and Blaire’s hot sex but I also got a story as well. We learned more about Nan, Kiro, Dean, Grant, Harlow… Abbi even had bits where it was from Grant’s and Harlow’s point of view. I think that was GREAT. It set everything up for Grant’s story… winkwink. It was a great addition here. There was even the connection between Wood’s and Della’s story in here as well! This book was perfection in the way that it had Rush and Blaire, showed Wood’s and Della and definitely set you up for Grant’s story. I loved every second of this book.

One thing I definitely loved was that there was great sex but there was a story! There was family drama, friend drama, baby mama drama. It wasn’t all sex. Believe me, their sex is dirty and makes you question the type of sex you may actually want… BUT it’s nice to have an actual story as well. Here, I can truly see the love Rush and Blaire have for one another.  He loves her like crazy. He is protective, caring, loving, sweet… it is exactly what love should be. He is just so lost in how much he loves her. She literally is his whole world, his whole heart. She comes first, and you can see that in this story. It’s hard to put someone above all… especially with Rush’s family and history… so the fact that he actually does put her first, it’s beautiful. Their love is just SO tremendously strong. They have already gone through so much in the amount of time they have been together (which actually isn’t that long… I had thought it was longer but I want to say it hasn’t even been a year…).  But, that actually doesn’t bother me… sometimes when you meet the right person, you just know. It’s like instant. That is something rare people find and I am so happy I have been able to read about a love like that. I adore Rush and Blaire together.

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t read the first two, DO NOT READ THIS. If you have, you will sort of know what I’m saying but DO NOT READ IT ANYWHO. Their new addition to their little family is SO FREAKING CUTE! The way Rush and Blaire are… it’s adorable! It makes me want to go get this addition… and the name!! OMG it’s so cute!! It was a perfect fit… SO CUTE

Okay, rant over. I loved Rush and Blaire. I’m sad to see their story end.  It was a great trilogy. I love them, I always will. So GO and read it!

4 stars to Goddess (Starcrossed #3) by Josephine Angelini

Published June 24, 2013 by katheryn13

She must rise, or they will fall …Helen’s powers are increasing–and so is the distance between her and her mortal friends. To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a dangerous traitor is lurking among them, and all fingers point to Orion. Still unsure whether she loves him or Lucas, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, or risk all-out war. The final book in this heart-stopping trilogy.

Review:

Well, okay so I’ll admit I wasn’t getting into this quickly. Maybe it was my mood. It had been a while since I’d read Dreamless, so the beginning didn’t seem to progress smoothly. I felt like I needed some kind of recap. That didn’t happen, or at least, not quickly enough for me.

Then it hit near the half way point, And I became full committed. I loved it. I know it shouldn’t take that long to get fully into a book, but this is one I stuck by. I wasn’t going to give up. I think my problem was more…me, rather than the story, because I’d  been in my “Reading funk” as I call it, where it takes me three times as long to read a book. Sigh.

Anyway.

The story seemed to progress successfully from then on and I couldn’t stop reading. And then typically, with books that turn out to be the end of a series, I got to the end and didn’t want it to end. That’s just my luck.

The action was believable and the dialogue between the characters was far more with it. I did get annoyed with the changes in Claire’s personality, though. I felt she switched back and forth too easily, influenced by others rather than her own decisions. That’s what it seemed to me, anyway. Matt generally pissed me off. I lost the reason behind him, and how the hell he became the new version of Achilles. I mean…huh? When the hell did that happen? So when things take a turn for the worse, I didn’t feel at all guilty. *tries not to spoil*

I don’t know what it is about him, but I loved Hades. He was so different to other interpretations that he was almost…dare I say it?…Likeable. He’s Hades, for crying out loud. He’s ruler of Hell. He should be the bad guy, the scary one. But no, he turned out to be a pretty stand up guy who had morals and he actually cared. He judged hearts and peoples sins. It was almost an AWWW moment for me. To me, Hades makes the series. I love when he appears in a scene, because…ah I get goosebumps. I’m so weird.

Helen’s memories were interesting, if not a little confusing at times. It took me a while to realise what was going on, so I was glad when Helen herself explained it. Because she’d drunk from the river (name has escaped me) which wiped her memories in Dreamless, she also drank the memories of her past lives. It was all very complex but very detailed. I can’t even begin to imagine how much research went into this.

The ultimate war was intense, and I was hooked. I loved that Helen had all this power, but I did get a bit confused as to why Helen was acting like a 30 something rather than 17 years old. It just seemed a bit odd to me. Still, I wanted the good guys to win, after all. And each twist and turn made it likely for either side to win. Especially when the Gods appeared. My oh my, was that a “HOLY SHIT” moment. It actually made me think of Percy Jackson series (I know, I know. Silly. But they are both Greek related.) because of Poseidon. Yet in that series they’re not all arseholes. haha.

Helen’s revelation about who she really was, was…well mind blowing. All this time we’d thought she was something else, and then the whole deal with Lucas, and oh my god please stop me before I say the whole plot because AHH reviews are so hard.

I’m glad this ended on a somewhat happy note. I don’t usually like epilogues but at least this one didn’t tell us what others did in the future. It was more a “and everything calmed down” thing rather than a “and they all lived happily ever after” thing.

Over all this deserves a 4stars because although it took time to get into it (for me), I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end. And I’m sad to see this series end. I really enjoy Greek mythology. It’ll be interesting to see what Josephine Angelini does next. :)

As their relationship deepens, Chris pulls Blythe out of the stupor she’s been in since the night a fire took half her family. She begins to heal, and even, haltingly, to love this guy who helps her find new paths to pleasure and self-discovery. Review

Holy Moly. I literally do not know where to start with this review.  I started reading this story and I was INSTANTLY sucked in. The characters are astounding.  The story is beautiful. JAM PACKED with emotion. I am not the person to cry when reading. I just don’t. I cry for movies or friends or even when I see other people cry but for some reason… I’ve never truly ACTUALLY cried. I’ve felt I may, or had wanted to; never did. Until now. I cried for these characters, for what they went through, for what they were going through… it was so emotional. And let me tell you, I also really like sleep. A LOT. Usually I don’t have the patience to stay up until 2 AM reading. Well I did this TWO nights in a row with Left Drowning. It was just that emotionally beautifully written that I couldn’t put it down.

Okay okay. Let’s begin talking about the actual story. It’s a love story. A tremendously beautiful one. One of two broken souls. Broken souls that fit perfectly not only because of who they are but what they have been through. I have never felt so deeply connected to the characters and the story than I did here. I felt the emotion through the pages. I wanted to jump in and hug people. Like I’m literally sitting here staring at my Word document trying to find the right words in order to explain to you how much I loved this story. I mean Jessica Park had me at Flat Out Love and devoured me with Flat Out Matt next.

I had high expectations here.

Not only did she meet my expectations, but she BLEW me out of the water across the country and gave me a margarita. This story is just raw. Beautiful. Damaging. Full of fate, destiny, joy, sadness, soul, love, sex, tears… I could go on! It’s such an emotional ride that it’s just captivating from the moment you open the book. I was truly inside these characters lives. The love component of this story is so strong too! There is some friendships and school and a lot of amazing running that actually made me go out and buy new work out clothes so I could get into running. But the love in this story stole the show. It’s so intense. It is an instant connection. A powerful one that I wasn’t sure either could handle. As I kept reading I shipped them to the fullest! Always. And then things twisted and things changed and details spilled and I found myself covering my mouth in shock with tears rolling down my face. I could not get over the ending either. I felt in my heart what was coming and my heart melted when it happened. A beautiful way to connect love. A beautiful way to start love as a matter of fact. This love is not only about falling in love but about how love can save you completely.

I don’t think I can even begin to express the feels I have for each and every character in this story. Every single person, I love. There is no way I can even include them here. They are all amazing. You will just need to trust that the story is worth the read because the story is so captivating because of the characters. Truthfully, the characters are wonderful in their own ways. They all have unique qualities that I can picture completely different people and see them all as they are meant to be; unique.

I am SO SO SO SO SO… SO happy I had the chance to win this ARC. It was already on my to-read list but I was lucky enough to have won it over twitter. (thanks to my twitter addiction!). Left Drowning is one of my absolute favorite stories as of now. It’s just so beautifully written and captivating and engaging and I feel connected to the story in a way and it’s just perfection. I have no words. When this comes out, I highly suggest you buy this book. It is well worth it. Amazing read. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. I am literally speechless. Reviews come easy to me because I get really detailed and what not but here… I was just so sucked in and involved in this story and felt so much of the emotion within that I don’t even know how to describe it in a review for you. It’s amazing. It’s wonderful. Emotionally beautiful. 5 fully drawn and coloured stars. :D

5 stars to Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Published June 20, 2013 by katheryn13

He’s arrogant, domineering, and… To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something… unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter

Review:

Another story within the world of Lux, as we thought. This story actually is on the other side… the Arum side! It’s a very interesting read because as I read previous stories, Arum are the bad guys; but I think I have a new respect so to speak for the Arum now that I read this story. It’s SO good. Seriously.

Guess I should start with the characters. Hunter and Serena. Swooooon!

Reminder. This is a stand-alone book, based off the Lux series. There is even a slight appearance of the famous Daemon in here, though you wouldn’t know it unless you read the series and knew of the event well enough.

Okay, back to Hunter. He is an Arum. Obviously hot and hot and hotter. But he has such a bad attitude for the most part. He is bossy, cocky, and just all over the place. He wants to be nice but he follows his true nature and is an asshole. He is very confusing for me and I didn’t like him at first. He was creeper in my eyes. Too cocky too! He would always make comments like “I know you want me” or something and I’m just like… well that’s only because you’re hot and you can see a person’s emotion based on the vibe?

It’s interesting though because you can clearly see he has a soft spot but he just doesn’t know what to do with it. You learn more about him and you meet his really nasty brother first. Oh, he is a triplet! Three hotties. SWOOON NOW!

BUT the one brother is more of an asshole then he is. Shocking, because Hunter is pretty bad! His other brother… I like him. He wants to be among the humans. He has respect and I feel like he looks at people as equal and it’s refreshing.  Hunter also has a sister. Won’t tell you anything about her, may be spoilers! Anywho… I learned to like Hunter. He grew on me. He learned control, he felt things, he grew as a HUMAN I think.

It was really interesting to read because you could tell that he had no idea what was going on. FEELING things were too “human” for Arum and he truly began to feel emotions and care and become human. It was a beautiful thing. The moment I knew he changed was when he called Serena “mine”. He was shocked himself, he didn’t know why he said it or what he meant by it but we all knew… it was obvious! I loved the way he protected Serena. He was drawn to her for poor reasons and I felt bad about the situation that brought the two together… but when they are together, it’s like HOT electricity! I was fanning myself a few times.

Okay… so I think I just talked a lot about Hunter. Serena! Man I want her as my best friend! She is 20 something I think? It says it in the story I know that. She is counselor, which I like.  She is the best friend I would want. She is calm, very laid back in my mind. But… the way she wants revenge and justice just screams LOYALTY.

That’s the quality you want in a friend. She fights and fights hard! She has to go through some traumatic things and she still fights hard. I mean, she falls for an Arum, learns about aliens, and still wants justice for what happens to her friend. I love her! She is a strong woman. She may be a little… gentle? I’m not sure what word I’m really looking for her… but she seems innocent I guess… that’s a better word! She’s strong, loyal, and committed. Truly what you look for in a main character, I think.

In all, I really really enjoyed this story. I love the Lux series… and this just opened my eyes a little bit about the Arum. Kinda made me not want to hate them so much, but we will have to see. Hunter may have just been an exception. ;) If you like the Luxen, you will like this story. It’s got action, fighting, drama, love, heart break… it’s an emotional roller coaster that you won’t want to get off of. I’m sad it’s a stand-alone actually! The ending was nice… but I felt it had a good cliffhanger that could lead right into another book!! I want more of Hunter, more of Serena!! Fingers crossed for more because they were addicting.

Amazing story. Go read it. You love Lux you will love this Arum, I can promise that! You may even switch sides like me!!

5 stars to Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines!

Published June 7, 2013 by katheryn13

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

So… I just devoured a fantastic book. Seriously. Fan of Rush? The lovely Abbi Glines does it again with Woods in Twisted Perfection. I had to fan myself. I loved everything about this story. It shows hardship, men who know how to treat the right woman right, women who are strong, family struggles… I mean I could go on and on! It’s simply fantastic. I loved this book.

First off, I love Della. She is amazing! She comes from a very intense past. A lot has happened to her and she has been through struggle and back. If I was her, there would be no hope for me. I could not have the strength to smile and stand with my head high. I’d go hide in a corner and rot. But no, she pulls through and decides she needs to find herself. She goes on a road trip, I would say, to just find who she is. On the way… even more struggle, but I would say it’s worth it because there is a light at the end of the tunnel. She meets Woods…

Oh dear Woods. What can I say about you? You won my heart just as easily as Rush did. I may even be more in love with you, if that’s even possible! I adore Woods. He has a lot of family pressures and work and society and jeez… He has a lot to hold on his shoulders, to say the least. But man… does he know how to treat Della! Every man needs a little 101 course from this man! He knows how to be there for a woman, treat her, love her, and I just love how he adores Della. No matter what she has been through and no matter what life is throwing at him he still can show her how much he loves her and adores her and she is the only thing he will ever need. It’s such a beautiful love. It really makes you have high standards for men. ;)

One thing I do have to mention… the sex. Their sex started their connection but didn’t consume their connection. THAT amazed me. If you have amazing sex, that usually becomes all you want and that’s the most important thing in the relationship. I felt that their connection between the souls was what shined through during this story. They had great sex. Amazing sex. I got a little hot reading things and I could definitely picture this throughout reading this. It was intense! But it didn’t overwhelm the base of the story which I love! I love stories with great sex but amazing relationships. That makes the story a true love story. I was like awwww they really do love each other! It’s not just for the sex! LOL!

Last thing. THAT ENDING! My god. Holy crap. Where is the next book? When I read that last line and I literally mean the LAST LINE my jaw dropped. I kept clicking through my kindle thinking I was missing pages or that there was a hidden chapter somewhere. I could not believe the ending. It is a cliffhanger that just makes your jaw drops. You will be dying for the next book, just like me.

Overall, another summer favorite for me. I love Woods. I love Della. I love Twisted Perfection. It was a great read. Amazing sex, a great love story, and just a roller coaster ride of emotion. I truly love this story and I cannot wait for the next one!! Dying over here Abbi… dying… <3
